Zedd had a monumental year in 2015 but that doesn’t mean fans can expect an album in 2016. Last year the DJ/ Producer dropped his sophomore album, True Colors, which featured collaborates with Selena Gomez, Echosmith, and Troye Sivan. The album soared to the top of Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums, passing his first album Clarity, which peaked at No.2. To follow the albums hype he embarked on a headlining arena tour which ventured to North America, Europe, and Asia.
He was then approached by M&M’s to recreate the iconic “The Candy Man” tune from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary. He collaborated with Aloe Blacc on the track. “I thought Aloe was a perfect fit because he’s one of the best singers out there right now,” Zedd says, “It was a perfect chance for me to show a different side of me.” This collaboration led to Zedd’s first track of 2016 and he hopes to collaborate with more artists behind the scenes.
Let’s shed some clarity on the no new album situation, shall we? Zedd released a statement saying, “I spent most of last year making my own records and had to say ‘no’ to a lot of collaborations that I would have absolutely loved to do. I’m not rushing to release new music this year. I’m not going to release a new album this year, mostly because it takes more than one year to make one.” But before putting True Colors on repeat for the next year Zedd will be sitting firming in the producer’s seat making new music… for other people that is. 2016 is lined with intriguing projects for the German superstar that before now he could only dream of. Another monumental year might be on the rise.
