Actor Spotlight: Lily James

By Kit Caldwell
Walt Disney Pictures recently remade their beloved animated classic, Cinderella, into a live-action film to release March 13, 2015. Disney’s strict requirements for casting an actress to star as a Disney princess make competing for the role tough. So who was the lucky woman awarded Cinderella’s role?
None other than the beautiful Lily James.
Lily James was born on April 5, 1989, as Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson in the town of Esher, Surrey. She grew up in England and studied at Arts Educational School in Tring. She later went on to study at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Her professional career began when she played Ethel Brown in the 2010 BBC production of Just William. She gained many positive reviews for her performances in several London theatre productions as well. She is best known for her roles as Korrina in Wrath of the Titans, as Lady Rose MacClare in Downtown Abbey, and as Older Skunk in Broken.
Even with these achievements, Cinderella will be her biggest role yet. This role gained her much attention and publicity. She was featured in the December edition of Vogue, wearing Cinderella’s blue ball gown. However for this actress– just like Cinderella – “midnight is just the beginning” as the talented Lily James has a bright future ahead. I can’t wait to see where her career goes from here!
