Spider-Man Finally Joins The Avengers on the Big Screen

Late Monday evening, Marvel Studios announced that Spider-Man will officially be teaming up with the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel made the announcement on their official website, Marvel.com, but temporarily shut down their servers soon after.

After over a decade of fighting for the rights to the character, Marvel Studios and Sony Entertainment finally reached an agreement. The deal includes Spider-Man appearing in a film that is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, followed by Sony releasing it’s next installment in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise in 2017.

While President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, will co-produce the new Spider-Man films, all of the final decisions and owning rights remain with Sony Pictures.

There are no details on which films Spider-Man will appear in next.
