By Jeffrey Rhodes
In 2013, you could not listen to the radio without hearing the smash hit “Cruise Remix” by Florida Georgia Line featuring Nelly. Since then, the country duo has been raking in the hits and started an impressive collection of awards. Their first album Here’s to the Good Times produced four consecutive number one hits. This is why so many fans and critics are excited for there new albumAnything Goes. Florida Georgia Line’s first three singles became number one hits, only one other country act has done that before. FGL has all the makings to be one of the biggest acts in country history.

The band consists of two singers, Brian Kelley, who was born in Ormond Beach, Florida, and Tyler Hubbard, who was born in Monroe, Georgia. Hence the name Florida Georgia Line. The two met while both attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Brian and Tyler became instant friends, hanging out and writing songs together. After college, they pursued a music career. Working many jobs during the day and playing clubs at night, the band did not find success at first, but eventually got a decent fan base. Finally, they accumulated enough money to produce an EP, and in December of 2010 they released their first EP titledAnything Like Me. After the release of their EP, they got more attention from country executives.

Joey Moi, a producer/songwriter, and Kevin Zaurak, an artist manager, started their own company called Big Loud Mountain. Big Loud Mountain’s first signing was none other than the dynamic country duo, Florida Georgia Line in February of 2012. They toured with other country acts including country star Jake Owen. During breaks in tours the duo had songwriting sessions with Joey Moi. Between the three of them, they came up with “Cruise” which debuted in August. In December, 2012, the single hit number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and stayed there for 24 weeks, shattering the previous record by 3 weeks. The song was such a mega-hit that it caught the attention of rapper Nelly. Nelly teamed up with FGL to make a remix of “Cruise,” which took the song over to the pop charts. It got all the way to number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the biggest songs of the summer of 2013 and the biggest country single of all time.

By this time, their debut album had reached number one on the country charts and achieved platinum status. It sold over 10 million tracks worldwide, and state side released one hit after another including “Cruise,” “Get Your Shine On,” “Round Here,” and “Stay.” In the summer of 2013 they the released a deluxe version of the album titled Here’s to the Good Times…This is How We Roll, which produced one more hit for the FGL. The track “This is How We Roll,” featuring Luke Bryan, was their fifth number one hit. The band also had their own headlining tour in 2013 and also toured with Luke Bryan on his Dirt Road Diaries Tour.

Their second album, Anything Goes, is set to come out October 14th. The album has already stirred up a lot of buzz with the first single, “Dirt.” It was released this past summer, debuting at number 40 on the charts and climbed to number 1 on the country charts. Since then, they released many singles from the new album including “Sun Daze,” “Anything Goes,” “Bumpin’ The Night,” and “Sippin’ On Fire.” Fans can see Florida Georgia Line on tour with Jason Aldean’s Burnin’ It Down Tour.
